Bringing data to life with empathy, clarity, and purpose.
In collaboration with BEworks and the kyu Collective, this report explored the psychological and economic costs of loneliness in the workplace — and the role human connection plays in mitigating them. My task as lead designer was to translate a large volume of research into a visually powerful and emotionally sensitive report, where design didn’t just communicate the findings — it made them resonate.
The Challenge
The topic of workplace loneliness is complex and deeply personal. It required a careful balance of scientific clarity and emotional storytelling. I was tasked with creating a design system that conveyed hope without glossing over hard truths — one that could highlight systemic problems while reinforcing the power of connection and creativity.
Behavioural Design Lens
Reduced cognitive overload by chunking content, layering visuals, and simplifying layout logic
Used framing and contrast to emphasize opportunity (creativity, empathy) alongside problem areas (retention, burnout)
Applied visual metaphors and soft gradients to evoke belonging and emotional nuance without cliché
Built a narrative flow aligned with the behavioural arc of disconnection → insight → action
Outcome
- Used as a flagship thought leadership piece across BEworks and kyu Collective
- Shared with government partners, health experts, and Fortune 500 executives
- Helped position creativity as a strategic asset in addressing workplace loneliness
- Internally cited as a gold standard for report design balancing rigour and emotional sensitivity
Reflection
This is one of the pieces I’m most proud of — not just for the design execution, but for the way it elevated complex behavioural insights into something beautiful, clear, and human. It’s a reminder that design is a bridge between evidence and empathy.
